COBIT Foundation Course v4.1

COBIT Foundation course is an interactive, classroom-based learning experience. Participants learn about the need for an IT control framework and how COBIT addresses this need by providing a globally accepted IT governance and control framework.

This course explains the elements and supporting materials of the COBIT framework in a logical and example-driven approach for everyone interested in obtaining foundation level knowledge of COBIT. Practical classroom exercises support the classroom presentations. Candidates learn the true meaning of COBIT by practicing the use of COBIT in a case-based scenario.

The course includes an exam preparation module, preparing participants to take on the COBIT Foundation exam. COBIT is a registered trademark of ISACA.
This course is delivered by ISACA Accredited instructors with extensive knowledge bringing major additional value.

This course is endorsed by Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management and could be supplemented by additional thematic seminars applying CobiT in different professional situations:
- COBIT for IT Governance implementation,
- COBIT to duild and improve the management process

Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management is affiliated to the IT Governance Institute. COBIT classes are lectured since 2001 by professors and practitioners within IT Management Education.

 

Course desciption

The ISACA COBIT Foundation course addresses the benefits of a sound IT governance framework and explains how to realize effective IT governance using the COBIT best practices framework. It explains the COBIT framework using practical examples and a case-study-driven approach. It also addresses all other components of the COBIT toolkit, such as the assurance guide and management guidelines.

The course helps professionals understand how to use COBIT in a logical and understandable manner and validates this knowledge in an interactive manner.


Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites for this course, but it is recommended that the participants have some experience in the IT governance domain.


Course Student Material
Each delegate receives a copy of the visual aids used as well as a COBIT handbook and a First Aid Kit. It is recommended that students acquire a copy of the COBIT 4.1 publication that can be downloaded for free from the ISACA Web site.

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to identify:

• How IT management issues affect organizations.
• The principles of IT governance, how IT governance helps address IT management issues, and who should be responsible for IT governance.
• The need for a control framework driven by the need for IT governance.
• How COBIT meets the requirement for an IT governance framework.
• How COBIT is used with other standards and best practices.
• The COBIT framework and all the components of COBIT, which are control objectives, control practices, management guidelines, and audit guidelines.
• How to apply COBIT in a practical situation.
• The benefits of using COBIT.
• The products and support that ITGI provides.

The COBIT Foundation course and the COBIT Foundation exam are equally applicable to IT auditors, IT managers, IT quality professionals, IT leadership, IT developers, and process practitioners and managers in IT serviceproviding firms.
